HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS
You want the best for your patients
You know that lifestyle changes are the recommended
first line of treatment, even when medications are appropriate.
You're already talking to them about lifestyle changes, but...
- Your time with patients is too short to fully educate them about healthy lifestyle changes, let alone support them in making those changes.
- Your patients rarely follow through on your healthy lifestyle recommendations you KNOW will improve their health.
- You’re overwhelmed and feeling burned out by the increasing volume of chronically ill patients you manage.
There is a gap between the medical advice you are giving your patients,
and the challenges they face in implementing those changes into their lives....
I fill that gap
I offer your patients the support they need to
stop declining and start improving their health!
You provide the expert information, I provide the tools...
When we work together, your patients get the information, tools, and skills to develop habits for improved nutrition, better sleep, increased activity, and stress management – key elements for weight loss and reduced disease risk.
You will see your patients:
- Gain better control of chronic conditions (or avoid them altogether!)
- Reduce their A1c, blood pressure, cholesterol, weight, and other biomarkers
- Potentially reduce their need for medication
- Gain confidence in making healthy changes
- Feel better and more in control of their health
Your patients will genuinely get healthier!
I get it...
The health of your patients is important to you. You talk to them about healthier habits, it’s just hard for them to make changes that stick.
I’ve been a registered nurse for 20 years and spent 15 years working directly with patients, 1:1, in their homes. I understand how frustrating and discouraging it is to provide patient education and know that they although they may want to, they will likely not follow through on many of your lifestyle recommendations.
Honestly, my nursing education simply didn’t teach me HOW to help people make healthy changes that last, and medical schools don’t teach behavior change skills, either!
I also understand the crushing weight of productivity requirements and the heartache of feeling burnout in a job that you once passionately loved.
In my search to do more for patients and get back to feeling joy in my career, I discovered that...
health coaching is the key to improving health and changing outcomes.
I attended Duke’s health coach training program, then went on to become a national board-certified health coach trained in lifestyle medicine.
Since 2018, I have been collaborating directly with doctors to help patients improve biometrics, reduce or avoid medications, and feel more in control of their health.
I know first-hand the difference that health coaching makes. I suffered many years from a debilitating autoimmune disease that profoundly impacted what I could do in my life. But through lifestyle changes and the support of a health coach, my autoimmune disease no longer impacts my life. I've drastically reduced the medication I take, I no longer have flares, I overall feel great, and I can consistently participate in the activities I love.
That's how powerful lifestyle medicine health coaching can be.
Nurse Health Coaching helps you help your patients!
Who are ideal patient referrals?
Your ideal referral is a patient interested in making lifestyle changes who also fits one or more of these categories:
- Their health and lives will improve by working on nutrition, movement, stress, sleep, or other health-promoting behavior changes.
- They are taking a GLP-1 medication.
- Has a chronic condition (obesity, hypertension, high cholesterol, pre-/type 2 diabetes, autoimmune disease, etc).
- Wants to reduce medication or avoid new/ increased medication.
Why refer or collaborate with a nurse health coach?
When it comes to creating new healthy behaviors,
nurse health coaches are the best support you can give your patients when they
struggle to follow through on the recommendations you provide.
When your patients struggle with understanding how to manage their diabetes, you refer them to a diabetes specialist.
When your patients require more support with their mental health, you refer them to a therapist.
When your patients need more support with personalized nutrition, you refer them to a registered dietician.
For most of your patients,
It’s hard to make healthy changes in a way that lasts.
A referral to health coaching offers them the professional support they need.
They WANT to follow through on your professional advice, it’s just not easy.
Nurse health coaching offers them the professional support they need.
I'm the healthcare specialist who will take the incredible work you’re
doing with patients, and expand it farther than you have time for.
You tell your patients what to do. I help them with how to do it.
How is this Different?
You’re already educating your patients on healthy lifestyle changes.
How is this different?
Unfortunately, telling your patients what to do often isn’t enough.
Changing habits is hard and most people struggle with sticking with new habits for the long term. Health coaching uses motivational interviewing, positive psychology, adult learning techniques, mindset work, and the science of behavior change to help patients find their inner motivation, move past barriers, and fit new habits into their unique lives.
I take your patients through an evidence-based process
to help them go far beyond what they could do with information alone
Health coaches "help people take big goals and break them down into accessible, bite-size pieces — not by telling clients what to do but by helping clients figure out what will work for them.”
- Amitha Kalaichandran, M.D. "Resolving to be Coached" NYTimes 1/7/20

A few of my happy, healthier clients
"I am miles away from where I started“
Ruth is a 63 year old female who came to coaching sedentary, slept only 4 hours a night, felt tired all the time, was short of breath while walking, and needed to sit and rest after climbing stairs. After coaching, Ruth is sleeping 6-7 hours a night, feels energized and clear-minded, is no longer short breath while walking and can go up 3 flights of stairs without getting short of breath. She also reduced her A1c from 7.6 to 7.3 while reducing her daily insulin by 28%, completely eliminated GERD symptoms, lowered cholesterol and triglycerides, and lost inches off her waist. “I am miles away from where I started. I feel confident in my ability to sustain the healthy changes I have made and am excited to continue making more." - "Ruth, Arizona
"Long-term strategies vs a diet"
Carol is a 62 year old female who lost 14 pounds and lowered her A1c from 6.4 to 6, LDL cholesterol from 140 to 103, triglycerides from 255 to 186, and ESR from 73 to 36. She no longer needs Ambien, has more energy, feels less stressed, and feels more motivated to make healthy changes. "Coaching has given me the confidence that I can follow through with making healthy changes. I have learned long-term strategies vs a diet that is not sustainable."
-"Carol", Arizona
"I have BOUNDLESS energy!"
Jim is a 38 year old male who quit smoking, lost 20 pounds, shifted from sedentary to walking/jogging 4 miles daily, increased fruits and vegetables, reduced meat and reduced processed food. He has found a set of stress management techniques that he enjoys and reports having “BOUNDLESS” energy, and improved breathing. His self-confidence and positivity have increased tremendously. "I now know that I can avoid getting completely derailed by working on what needs to be addressed, keeping up healthy habits and getting back on track as soon as I can, if I get offtrack."
- "Jim, Vermont
A Prescription to Nurse Health Coaching is the key
For the patient with a health challenge, the "lifestyle prescription" has usually been told to them by a healthcare provider. They are often told to be less sedentary, manage stress better, get more sleep, improve their nutrition, etc. If they can be directed to a well-trained wellness coach, the prescription for lifestyle change can be successfully "filled".
- Michael Arloski, Ph.D., PCC
